My Background and Inspirations as a Designer

Art has been a passion of mine since I was a child, but I had not taken my creative
talents seriously until I went to UC Santa Barbara. As a pre-med student I quickly
realized that I was pursuing a career I would excel in, but not a career I would love.

I immediately enrolled in art classes and I have not left the creative path since.
Through my studies in art, I found that graphic design is
a great career choice for
the creative professional. But it wasn't until I took some classes at a community
college that I recognized graphic design as the perfect outlet for
my clean and
illustrative style, my love of the entertainment industry, and my analytical mind.

I am currently a senior graphic design student at Cal State Northridge. As a
well-rounded designer, I am practiced in print production, spreads, typography,
and
logo design. However, in my experience I have found that my true passions lie

in illustration and screen printing. As an avid lover of music, movies and television,
I hope to become an in-house entertainment designer working on projects such
as album art, band branding, t-shirt design and key art for movie posters.

I have worked as a designer for the passed three years, including an internship
for
a non-profit music organization and producing flyers/ maintaining the website
for
a wholesale retailer. Currently, I am employed as the lead graphic artist for
CSUN’s Career Center where I create promotional materials for student events.
I also have experience in freelancing, creating designs for local band t-shirts,
small business logos, and the branding for a start-up video game company.
